Introduction:

TOEFL Stands for
Test of English as a foreign Language. TOEFL is a standardized test that
evaluates English Proficiency of people whose native language is not
English. The TOEFL is administered worldwide by Education Testing
Service (ETS).

Why TOEFL Test?
|
|
TOEFL test is a prerequisite for
admission into colleges and universities where English is a lingua franca
i.e. native of official language TOEFL score also evaluate the English
proficiency of people for whom English is not their native language.
Undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs around the world
require students to demonstrate their ability to communicate in English
as an entrance requirement.

Who Should Take the TOEFL Test?
|
|
Non-native English speakers at
the11th grade level or above should take the TOEFL test to provide
evidence of their English proficiency before beginning academic work.
The test content is considered too difficult for students below 11th
grade.

| The Test Has Four Sections:
|

Reading measures the ability to understand academic reading
matter.
-3 Passages - per passage 12 to 14 questions. -Total time 60 minutes. -An experimental section may be administered and total 80 minutes.
| Listening measures the ability to understand English as it is used
in colleges and universities.
- 6 sets of listening - per set 5 to 6 questions based on conversations & 4 lectures - Divided into 2 sections. 17 questions in each section & 10 minute to answer. - An experimental section may be administered based on 2 more lectures & conversation.

Speaking measures the ability to speak in English.
Total two Sections:

for college and university course work.
